![]() So I was checking out our profiles on 1029i.com and I notice that I look like I'm 20 years old. God Bless Grecian Formula... It was a science experiment that actually turned out okay. Really in my middle 30's and you can ask for the ID if you ever met me. But, Seriously... Wow! Where should I start? A long, long time ago, in a state far far away, at a small radio station in Upstate New York. My father was a radio engineer and would take brothers and I to "help" check on the AM transmitter and let us press a button on the wall. Little did I know, but the button simply turned on and off the outside flood lights. Never the less, I was hooked at a young age. Many nights as a pre-teen, I would play disc jockey in my bedroom. From there it was only a matter of time till I found my first paying radio gig. You see at 15, all kids have to make a choice. Flipping burgers or Flipping records. It occurred to me that it would require less work to flip records and I would be working in an air conditioning. So, my paying career in radio started at WSIR, in beautiful Winter Haven, Florida. I do not count the weekends I spent with Dad slip cueing records prior to my first gig. After high school, I found myself in Raleigh, North Carolina, were I spent the better part of 14 years. I started a family and found himself travel many hours back and forward between Florida and North Carolina. Missing Florida and wanting my kids to be closer to my parents. I jumped at the opportunity to join the wonderful staff at 102-9 The Point. |
